Unemployment Benefits

The North Carolina Employment Security Commission offers online unemployment information and filing. Unemployment benefits are based on combinations of federal and state statutes. North Carolina's unemployment compensation program is administered by the North Carolina Employment Security Commission and provides monetary compensation to workers who have been terminated without cause, through no fault of their own. You may be eligible for unemployment benefits if you become unemployed if you have become unemployed due to business closing, downsizing, a layoff, or something that was not your fault, you may be eligible for unemployment benefits.  

 

Health Insurance

The federal law, Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), allows qualified employees to continue their health insurance benefits, at their expense.  The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides for a 65% reduction in COBRA premiums for certain assistance eligible individuals for up to 9 months.
